Course Objectives

This course is designed to teach you basic skills and concepts for developing digital video for Web and multimedia production, using Adobe Premiere 6.0. You will master the fundamentals of digital video editing and explore Premiere 6's sophisticated tools and capabilities through class demonstrations, hands-on exercises and assignments.

Student Web Accounts

UCSB Extension provides a web account for each student registered in the class. You may use your account to store your project files and display browser-based homework assignments. You will be given a username and password on the first day of class to access your account.

The web address for your account is "http://discordia.xlrn.ucsb.edu/~youruserID". To access your account via FTP, use "discordia.xlrn.ucsb.edu" as your "Host" address, then enter your userID and password.

Attendance Policy

To get the most out of this course, you must come to class. If you have a conflict that will prevent your attendance, please notify your instructor in advance by email or telephone. You will not be penalized for an excused absence, but homework must still be completed on time.

If you miss a class without notifying the instructor, your absence will be marked "unexcused." Two unexcused absences will reduce your final grade a full step.

Grades

Your final grade for the course will be based on the following:

  • Attendance and active participation in class exercises.
  • Timely completion of weekly homework assignments.
  • Completion of 2 class projects.

Lab Access

Registered students are entitled to use the Jalama Lab in Phelps Hall for work related to this class for the duration of the course. The lab is available on a first-come, first-served basis during building hours when it is not reserved for a class. Check the lab schedule for open hours weekly at the Instructional Computing website.
